Policy of the Library

  Our overall aim is to ensure that municipal and county residents or other citizens should get access to any information and mental product that yields knowledge or mental enjoyment. We would like to help them in their studies, work, and solving everyday-life problems as well as facilitate lifelong learning.

Purposes of the library could be summarized as follows:

• to make our facilities and collections accessible quickly and in an organized way (with the cooperation of several departments)

• to give free run of the widest range of information

• to emphasize that the library is not only a storehouse of books but also a cultural community space, information centre, a place to spend our free time at and an inevitable aid in learning

• to help chilren become conscious and regular library-users at the earliest possible age

• to give up-to-date information about Somogy County especially with the help of the comprihensively collected and highly referenced Somogyi Gyűjtemény

• to help the operation of the county’s public libraries with advisory work
